Welcome to the world, sweet boys!

Here are a couple of pictures that Christian took of the boys while I was regaining feeling after the section.  Because the boys were born at 33 weeks, they were automatically put into the NICU.

Baby A (closest to the exit) -  Luke Christian
4lb 14oz
My sweet boy was taking a bottle within the first 4 hours after he was born.  Developmentally, babies are not normally ready for that at 33 weeks.  He had low blood sugar (probably because I was kept from eating for 48 hours), but did not require anything more than monitoring from the day he was born.

Baby B - Jacob Edward (Jacob is Christian's middle name & Edward is in honor of my maternal great-grandfather and Christian's maternal grandfather)
5lb 9oz
My other sweet boy needed a little bit more attention in the beginning.  He had to have an IV for fluids and oxygen.  Ironically, he decided when he was done with the O2 by gumming the tube instead of it being in his nose.

Throughout my pregnancy, the boys were very close in their size estimates.  From the time we found out we were expecting two boys, they did not move positions.  Luke was in the frank breech (folded in half, butt down) position; Jacob was stretched out just below my ribs.  When he stretched, either his butt or head would poke out on one side or the other.

The boys were in the NICU for only 10 days.  The Dr's and nurses said that they were impressed with their size and development at birth.  The proving ground to 'break-out' of the NICU was to eat well and gain weight for 48 hours.  I was released from the hospital the day before Thanksgiving.  We went back to spend Thanksgiving morning with the boys before we went to the family stuff.
